Hi there! I’m Bunny. I am a super friendly, playful pit bull who lives in a sunny beach town in Florida. My story started out a little rough. I guess you can say that the first time I met my mommy was at the doggy hospital. She was the doctor who was trying to figure out what was wrong with me. My body had become very stiff and I couldn’t even open my mouth to eat or drink. I was hard as a board from head to tail. It turned out that I had a severe form of tetanus and it was going to require A LOT of work, medicine, and faith to try and fix me with no guarantees. So, my mommy and daddy agreed to take me home to see what they could do. And let us tell you, it was not easy.
I was so sick, my body convulsed all day every day for more than two weeks. But after three to four weeks of around the clock care with tons of medications, fluids, force-feedings, nursing care, and physical therapy, I started to show signs of slight progress. About two weeks in and I slowly began to lift my head. Then, I stood up on my own and, a few days after that, I finally walked again! It wasn’t pretty, but I sure walked with pride! I was so proud of myself but my pawrents even more so over this monumental moment that we will remember forever.
I always knew that I was a happy adventurous dog but during the time that I was sick I couldn’t express it. Now, you get to see me, all of me, and my lovaBULL personality. Since I recovered from my painful illness, I love playing and meeting new human and animal friends. Three of my closest besties are my fellow rescue brothers, Cooper and Tibby, and my sister, Leo, a rescue kitty who even lets me snuggle with her. I also LOVE the beach, swimming, paddle boarding, playing with other pups, and have pawfected the art of chasing down bubbles. Of course, I also like to dress up every now and then too.
This is just a small bit of my story that shows my super-sized heart. I am here to spread a message of hope as well as to destigmatize pit bulls by showing the world that dogs who look like me are not bad - we actually make the best of friends.
Most of all, I hope to remind everyone to be brave. Life can get tough. Days can get dark. If you ever find yourself there, dig deep, and find strength. If I have it - you have it within yourself too! Always remember that perseverance in the face of adversity will carry you far, especially when you give yourself time and take up the great heart. Then, your story can be an inspiration like mine! Then, you too can be Brave like that little pittie who overcame tetanus ...Brave like me. Brave Like Bunny.
A portion of our proceeds will go to charities. To follow along with my adventures follow: @bravelikebunny . Stay happy friends!
