Instagram is one of the most popular and high traffic social media platforms in the world. It has more than 1 billion monthly active users with over 500 million daily active users.
Instagram stories -- one of Instagram’s features, provides a huge potential to create and share content for brands and influencers to boost their awareness, mainly to get more leads and sales.
The good news is, Instagram has released a feature to connect Instagram stories to an external link called ‘Swipe Up’. But there’s a catch to it. Only accounts with more than 10,000 followers who will see this featured on their instagram story. We’ll keep you updated if Instagram is changing this policy in the future.
By adding a swipe up link, viewers of the story can easily swipe up through their device to access the link provided by the user. This affects positively for brands and influencers to promote specific products, content, or even signup pages that followers can access. Sounds good? Now let’s see how we can create the swipe up in three easy steps:
Step 1 :
From your Instagram Homepage, click on the top-left Instagram Stories icon. Take a photo or video or import an image from your gallery.
Step 2 :
On the top side you’ll notice a link icon, click it. A new window titled 'Swipe Up Link’ will appear, choose ‘Web Link’ and it will allow you to write or paste a link. Once done, type on the check mark (for Android users) or ‘Done’ (for iOS users) to save the link. You'll be almost done!
Step 3 :
You’ll notice that the hyperlink icon is thicker. That’s an indicator where the link has set for the swipe up. That’s it! You are ready to post it right away and let your followers swipe up straight to your store or website!
